 It might not be necessary to read Hinny Through the Years to get clear on this story but I'd advise that you do so, mainly because if you are a Hinny fan, then you are reading both these stories. 

Watch Eddie deal with a life around Hinny while finding himself taken by a familiar blonde he can't forget. 

Jenna Macy might come in later in the book since she doesn't have much role around Hinny and the early years of Eddie Gideon.
