They are me but different personality's. When reading this book, read it as if you're Calcifer and Sebastian. Read it as if you're reading memories you have forgotten. Calcifer and Sebastian are who you perceive them to be. Calcifer and Sebastian are nothing more and nothing less than a mere fragment of mine and yours imagination.
