THE MINDER
After discovering that her boyfriend, Gary, is cheating on her, Alex – a feisty young advertising executive - decides to start collecting men like stamps, rather than letting them break her heart. Accompanied by her best friend, Sophie, she goes to Amsterdam for a weekend, only to find herself intervening in a fight involving a fellow traveller, Mike. Back in England, Alex and Mike begin to date. However, after she overhears a mysterious conversation, she finds out that Mike is being paid to keep tabs on her. With her usual sense of reckless adventure, Alex decides to continue their relationship in order to uncover the truth about what is going on.
In the meantime, she also becomes involved with a rich client, Simon Knight, who woos her with glamorous gowns and fancy cars. However, when she goes back to Amsterdam with him for a work project, it soon becomes clear that Simon isn’t the gentleman he appears – after duping her into smuggling diamonds into the country, he tries to force her to become part of his criminal organisation, telling her he will kill her if she doesn’t comply. Luckily, help is on hand in the form of Mike. He is an undercover customs officer and helps her to escape, despite fearing that she may, indeed, be part of Knight’s sinister plans. Bullets fly, cars explode, warehouses blaze, mayhem and chaos follow in their wake. Eventually, after an entertaining boat ride, they land in England. Now she is kidnapped. As she desperately tries to escape cars crash, bullets zing all round, property blazes and pandemonium and havoc descends. Alex finally manages to prove her innocence to Mike and, who knows, their fiery relationship may develop.
