When children are born, they are tested for angel blood and demon, if simulations work on them (if they arent part of divergent it just does nothing), and people have come up with scientific ways to check children for magic, or the force, before they could use it accidentally.

Vivienne's parents left her on the doorstep of the NY institute when she was a baby, and she was adopted by Simon and Isabelle Lovelace. But not everything is as it seems, and Vivi must find herself, and figure out her past, to determine not just her future, but that of the whole world. But she isn't alone. She has her older cousins Max and Rafe to help her, and her slightly younger cousins, Astrid and Kai Herondale, and of course her sister Dakota Lovelace.
