Kit had always preferred to be alone. His family consisted only of his father and him. And even then, his father was away all the time. 

Ty Blackthorn came from a large family, seven children, and an uncle, even though he was practically insane. Ty grew up in the institute, surrounded by family, and other personnel that he was close to. Kit had grown up in the basement of a shack in downtown LA. 

Ty is the only one that understands Kit's need for solitude, especially after watching his father get murdered by demons. 

Kit is the only who understands Ty's autism.
