My wife and I fell in love with Peru the first time we visited. It cast a spell on us the first day we arrived, and we returned many times, each time focusing on a different area or a different part of its mysterious history. How was it possible for 180 Spaniards to conquer an Empire of 20 to 30 million people? What do the Nasca Lines represent? How did the Inca construct their big palaces and temples without steel tools, the use of the wheel, or animal power? These are some of the questions that fascinated and intrigued us and kept pulling us back to Peru. Share our experiences and adventures in this not well-known country, with a rich historical past and natural as well as anthropogenic wonders.

The year is 1483 AD, ten years before Christopher Columbus's famous voyage to America. In Aztlan, the Aztecs have suffered significant changes in their social and religious climates. Under the weyitlatoani Moctezuma, Aztecs ceased sacrificing those that share their faith and began a renewed focus on education, prosperity, and the discovery and conquering of new lands. With this new focus came new ventures, and a floating city was built to sail across the seas in search of adventure and led by divine guidance. Eventually, this floating city would reach the shores of Portugal. The Portuguese were wrought with their own struggles at this time. The land was flooded with refugees who had fled the Reconquista and more who fled the looming Inquisition in the neighboring kingdom of Castile. The newly crowned Portuguese king, Joao II, was obsessed with the sea and the discoveries waiting across unknown waters. He dreamt of building Portugal into a new maritime superpower, but the kingdom's coffers were dry, and to rebuild the treasury, he turned to the wealthy landowners, forcefully ridding them of their property to support the building of new ships and funding voyages. At the time of our tale, Joao II has decided to strike against the wealthiest and most influential dynasty in Portugal, the House of Braganza. Duke Ferdinand II de Braganza was an influential advocate of new liberal ideals growing in Portugal and dreamt of building a new parliamentary democracy based on the Portuguese Cortes. When Joao II makes his move, de Braganza has no choice but to organize a rebellion and strike back. In this alternative historical fiction, the worlds of medieval Europe and Aztec civilization meet and clash, illuminating many questions for all ages.

The arms race began in Mesopotamia with the invention of composite bows, light chariots and crossbows. The Persian (Iranian) emperor tried to conquer Athens in 480 BCE but was delayed by the Spartans at Thermopylae while Greek warships destroyed the Persian fleet. The Macedonian ruler, Alexander the Great, completely destroyed the Persian armies by 326 BCE and established the Greek empire. Then, between 600 and 200 BCE, a few hundred Greeks revolutionized science, mathematics, medicine, engineering, history, law and philosophy. Meanwhile, Greeks settlers in Sicily were in conflict with Rome and, by first century BCE, Romans had conquered Greece, Egypt, Carthage and the old Persian empire. Roman traders made large profits using the Silk Road between Rome, China and India and which created higher incomes though out the Roman empire. Roman engineers built more than 80,000 km of roads throughout the empire and 800 km of aqueducts in Rome delivered a million cubic metres of water each day. WHO THE HELL ARE WE? is a series of short books and videos describing the evolution of civilization. Almost everyone on the planet is five times wealthier than their ancestors only 50 years ago. This astonishing phenomenon has also improved health, education, and longevity. The cause; an explosive growth in ideas and productivity. It began when we learned to control fire, evolved articulate speech and stumbled onto the way to create infinite wealth; free trade. The discovery of agriculture made us richer but we also learned how to destroy wealth. Great civilization grew up but then disappeared leaving only incredible ruins and ideas. Later books detail some of the ideas and developments that increased the average life span from about 40 years to more than 80 and the average world income from less than $3 to more than $33 per person per day (and to $140 per day in some countries).

Jesus and Muhammad adopted the Hebrew's belief in one God and Christianity and Islam spread throughout the world. The Chinese were using gunpowder in the 9th century and, by the 13th , cannon dominated the battlefields. Paper money appeared in China from 1216, as many financial transactions were too large for heavy bronze coins. The Anglo-Saxons built light, fast ships to stop the Vikings raiding Britain and, in 1546, Henry VIII established the "Navy Royal" which Elizabeth I used to defeat the Spanish armada. Before 1764 a worker needed 50,000 hours to spin 100 lb of cotton thread on a hand-powered wheel but only 300 hours with a spinning machine. Between 1770 and 1773, James Cook crossed the Antarctic Circle and mapped the coasts of New Zealand, Australia and the west coast of north America. By 100 BCE, Chinese were weaving complex silk brocade cloth. In 1804, J. M. Jacquard reinvented the Chinese loom, using a chain of cards to control which threads of weft or warp appeared on the cloth. This was the beginning of computers. 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 '𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞' 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 Once upon a time, in a faraway land- well, actually near the faraway land of fantasy of which we know much about- there lay a small country named Rihaaya. It was small in terms of its geographical borders but its population was vast and ever increasing, with the agricultural production (for that was the main means of livelihood) flourishing and growing leaps and bounds. It was not a young Land- it had lasted centuries upon centuries, and was ruled by a caring and clever Queen and her kind and benevolent King- but, due to some international worry, it needed the protection of a larger and stronger land. Naturally, the most reasonable thought to secure this protection the King and Queen had was that of a marriage alliance- for, that would guarantee protection and security for years and hopefully generations to follow. And they were most pleased once they received word from the High King of Narnia- who had seen the advantages of marrying into a bountiful Queendom that had an abundance of grains and natural resources- that they were willing to accept the alliance and union. Really, there were only two opposers to this idea. The bride and the groom. //// #1 in #edmundpevensie (25/06/2021) #1 in #thechroniclesofnarnia (29/05/2021) #1 in #cslewis #1 in #medievalfantasy (7/7/2021) #1 in #goldenage #1 in #kingsandqueens (9/06/2021) #1 in #naomiscott #1 in #narniaau (26/04/2021) #2 in #ocfanfiction #2 in #faeries (29/11/2020) #2 in #medievalfantasy (13/03/2021) #2 in #thegoldenage #3 in #kingsandqueens (5/04/2021) #7 in #narnia (out of 5K stories) (10/04/2022) •••• The Alliance Series, as found on @EdsGryff: 'Alliance' 'The Heirs' 'Moonshine' 'Fairytale?' ••••

Disclaimer: I do not claim to be an expert in historical characters, peoples, times, places, languages, & settings, nor does this have any historical relevance; I'm just a writer, retelling the story of the Trojan War in a biblical light. It's still a work in progress, so I will continue to write & correct my writing & any errors I made along the way. Inspired by Greek Roman & European legends, historical army formations, remixed with biblical themes, & an original vision of mine. Come & experience a retelling of the Trojan War in a Christian biblical light manner & POV, while keeping in touch with some of what was written in Homer's Iliad, Odyssey, Virgil's Aeneid, & other ancient writings, changing what was originally there, & adding biblical ideas to the story of the Trojan War. The story follows Priam's desperation for the wife he loves Hecuba to have a child. After hearing about Israel's Conquest of the land of Canaan & rumors spreading about their God amongst the commanders officers, he willingly sets out on a diplomatic mission to bring to the tribes of Israel gifts, going to Kedesh-Naphtali Priam comes into conflict with Sisera a Canaanite commander of 10,000 Canaanites & 900 chariots, meets Barak of Ephraim before he became a commander, & the prophet Deborah who led Israel at the time. The story continues on with the birth of Paris & how he came to be as a shepherd boy with his guardians Agelaus & Harpru, & his friends Ankenaus, Brutus, Francus, Achates, & Oenone to how he becomes the prince of Troy meeting his half siblings Deiphobus, Troilus, Hectoris, & others.

When you close your eyes and picture the first person to ever paint the walls of a cave, do you picture a man or a woman? When you imagine the first tool humans developed, is it something deadly, like a spear tip, or something nondescript, like a bag to carry berries? When you think of human interactions with nature, is it one of conquest or cooperation? The Woman has no name and no voice, yet she discovers that she possesses a power never before seen by anyone in her small community. She simply wants to live her life, but when a powerful spirit threatens her tribe and her home, she cannot sit around waiting to be rescued. The Woman grapples with towering questions as she carves a place for herself in the world. What defines the relationship between humans and the rest of the natural world? Does power only manifest as brute strength? And what is she willing to do to protect those she loves?
