An act of desperation.
Veronica Logan's teleportation project is on the verge of losing its funding, and she fears her husband has strayed from her. Without caring about the results or if she'd even survive, she enters the departure pod as the first human test subject and disappears.
Something happens while her signal is transmitting, and only a small fraction of her mass reappears at the arrival pod. Alive but incomplete, she asks her team to hide the accident from her husband while they try retrieving her missing matter still stored in the computer's memory. However, Veronica's colleagues have other motives which may make her condition permanent and unleash a darker, bigger threat.
To measure up to the woman she once was, Veronica must reassess her career and reconcile with her husband. Only she can clear her conscience, but she might be her own worst enemy.

Evelyn sees it as the only way to reconnect with her long-lost son, wishing he would join the boiling revolution among the Factionless. Except that obviously, things don't always go to plan. This is a 'LoVe' story because there is no other option for these two but each other. I will put a warning here that this story will contain graphic depictions of rape. I will leave a note at the top of chapters that contain those parts so that you do have a warning, but this is just an overall warning in case you are uncomfortable with that. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent?
