Three months have passed since the boys of Maplethorn made a pact to keep their abilities secret. The lone dissenting voice belongs to Mason Connelly--an older cadet who was set to graduate in June but found himself still locked within Maplethorn's walls in August. Feeling betrayed by the others, Mason uses his newfound power to flee the academy.
Fearing their lives will again be in jeopardy if Mason reveals himself, the Maplethorn cadets decide they must find him and convince him to return. Luckily, Parker Dodson--a cadet who sees glimpses of the future--has had a vision. He knows where Mason will be. He also knows that if they go after Mason Connelly, Cameron Drexler will die.
