A swap AU with glitradora as the romantic focus. After their first ever mission Catra is left feeling ill about the way the horde treated the innocent people of Etheria. On a walk to gather her thoughts she comes across an odd ring in a box half buried in the dirt, around the same time a scouting party for the leader of the rebellion does the same.
Catra and Adora grow up together in the horde, with Adora and Glimmer both willing to step in the line of fire to protect Catra from Shadow Weavers abuse.
Glimmer also grew up in the horde, when the King and Queen were exiled to Beast Island and presumed dead.
The Horde occupied Brightmoon for almost two decades before a rebellion within its borders was able to recapture the kingdom and install a temporary rebel leader to help fight back against the horde until a new royal lineage could be chosen.

#catradora this is a story I thought of myself. it takes places after season 5. after the battle with horde prime and order has been restored, adora takes catra to the castle to live there but the people vote to lock her up instead for the damage she caused. with adora fighting for catras right to freedom, they end up both getting exiled. horde prime recovering from his loss, he decides to send down a clone so powerful it would take the combine forces of all the princesses and then some.
