It's 1986 and Depeche Mode are touring for their newly released album, Black Celebration. 

Alan and Martin have been in a relationship for 3 years; over the course of that time period Alan has watched as Martin's drinking habit  has spiralled out of control, at its worst whilst on the road.

Their relationship now strained, who or what will redeem it and break the fragile tension between them?

His recovery was rocky, he ended up deaf after suffering from meningitis, epilepsy and cognitive impairment.
