Alpha Maverick McQueen of the Opal Crescent Pack, one of the largest Packs in North America, has waited 7 long years for his mate. After returning to the states from Alpha Training School and being handed the Alpha position Maverick was determined to find her. He would leave months at a time to other packs all over the world in hopes of finding the other half of his soul, allowing his parents to act as Alpha and Luna. But an increase in rogue attacks on neighboring packs causes Maverick to have to halt his search to take in displaced members of defeated packs. Something is off about all of it and he's determined to find out what. Through all of the chaos, much to his pleasant surprise, he finds his mate.... except she keeps running from him.

Aja Badru had been a fun loving child, always smiling, laughing, playing pranks, and going out of her way to help others leaving a smile just a bright as hers on their lips. Even after her mother died in a rogue attack, and at such a young age she knew that she couldn't let the darkness take over who she was; who her mother wanted her to be. Over the years, Aja wanted nothing more than to have the close relationship with her dad that she used to; but he changed and she knew that things were never going to be the same, she would never be the same.

But one day, Aja's prayers to the Moon Goddess to escape the hell she lived everyday are answered, when a fatal rogue attack on the beloved White Moon Springs Pack results in pack members being torn from one another and their territory desecrated.
Broken, frightened and alone Aja ends up in Alpha Mavericks territory where she discovers he is her mate! Thinking the Moon Goddess had made some kind of mistake, she does the only thing she can think of..... run!
