Victoria Pennington is 9-years old when her parents and adopted aunt are killed in wreck with a drunk driver on New Year's Eve. Vicki and her two cousins are moved into their senile Grandmother's manor where the rules are set by twins. At first it's pranks and pointing blame, but it evolves into an obsession to make her bend to their will.
The twins, Joshua and Jacob, spend their childhood forming and shaping her into their perfect woman. They needed to possess all of her. She quenched their pain, but when their ideal future is finally within grasp she disappears without a trace. Leaving only an empty bank account, and them searching for years. The two both choosing very different paths in their pursuit.
Her adolescent years with Josh and Jake made time and patience feel like her only friends. After escaping years of anguish at their hands she realizes she can't run from the memories. She becomes hell bent on releasing her demons by keeping the twins always in her sight. She disguises herself, changing her look constantly to stay just in the fray.
In the end it becomes a battle of wills on who's obsessions run deeper. Until the journals take a turn for the worse, and someone is left with a choice that changes Pennington Manor forever.
