"I don't like how you just talked to my friend," Billie said pointedly.

"I wasn't trying to offend her, okay? Calm down," I responded, not caring that people were starting to stare in my direction at the sound of my raised voice.

"Okay, well, you didn't need to talk to her like that. Is it that hard to apologise?" Billie squared her shoulders and lowered the drink in her hand.

"Fine! Jesus. I'm sorry," I said, my tone more mocking than apologetic.

Billie stared at me with a cold look in her eyes, but decided not to keep the conflict going and turned away after a few seconds of staring me down. She mumbled to her friend, who I had just spoken rudely to, "Let's go, Nelly."

I scoffed as they started to walk away from me. "Gay bitch."

Billie stopped dead in her tracks at the sound of my words. I watched with a smirk as she turned back around to face me.

A few seconds later, she punched me in the face.
