Liliana sat staring into space as Dante was escorted into the room but two guards. Liliana looked at him with hope shimmering in her eyes and his heart broke into a million pieces. He waved the guards off as she stood up to come and meet him.
She curtsied and he whispered "Your majesty" holding her hand.
"Something is wrong I can feel it," she said her voice etched with sadness.
"Lily" he began a failed attempt to reassure her
"Just say it" she cut him off
"They were ambushed" he began, "there is no sign of them anywhere," he said softly letting his fear show
"Are you sure?" she said her eyes watering.
He wanted to say something to reassure her, comfort her but his mouth found no words. He pulled her into his embrace
"It's going to be alright?"
"How?" she sobbed
