A girl who is silently suffering from depression lives a normal life in a little town in England. She has plenty of friends and a loving family but still struggles to get through the day before breaking down. She has one comfort in life though, books. Books help her but she still feels like she is going to live a lonely life where after she is gone nobody will know or remember her name. She longs for the glamorous life of a Broadway Star, the life of a celebrity where she can't leave the house because to many people know her name. She knows this is a child's dream but refuses to let go of her main ambition. To write stories. Stories that manage to stay with you wherever you go, stories that change your perspective, stories that change the world.

When she reads she forgets her lonely life and is transported into another world, a world where she attends a school of magic, a world where she travels to OZ, a world where she is special.

Once day when she visits her local book emporium she picks up an interesting looking book. A book which the shop owner Mr Bellevue says is second hand but it looks a lot older than that. The girl reads the book and get transported into another world, a world where she has to stay until she stops turning the pages and the story ends. When the story ends she can return home, but what if she doesn't want to in the end?

In an attempt to remember the time he was alive Dew reads his own diary. Dew is a simple servant, working in the kitchen of the king of a relatively small kingdom somewhere in the north. Having changed from a barely human water creature into a young boy five years ago he had found it difficult to fit into the new social environment. Now he thinks he figured out the way things go, working on daily basis, taking part in some events and living with his best friend Avery, who works as a knight. His life drastically begins to change though after poison attacks are launched towards the old king and now he is blamed for it. Additionally Avery breaks down, revealing dark secrets he had kept for years. Suddenly the simplicity of his former life is destroyed and every day could mean the end of him. This is a fantasy story taking place in medieval times. There are elements of dark romance to be found. This story includes descriptions of death, gore and mutilation as well as a little bit of drug abuse. The story takes place in a medieval setting, so themes such as sexism, execution, arranged marriages, implied incest and war can be found. Characters go through phases with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. There are vague recounts of voluntary intercourse but implied rape as well. One consensual scene is written out but there will be a warning. "Diary of the Dead" is part of a three part series. This is the first book. I'm currently working on the second/ third (depending on the order one wants to read it). The chapters are comparably short and the language is easy because I'm German and English is my second language.

In a small, seemingly ordinary town, Selene has always felt like she's just another face in the crowd. Her life revolves around the typical high school experiences-hanging out with friends, navigating the ups and downs of teenage life, and managing the constant buzz of schoolwork and daily routines. To the outside world, it's a life like any other, filled with the usual moments of frustration and joy. Yet, beneath the surface of this mundane existence lies a hidden world, one that Selene never could have imagined. Magic, mystical creatures, and ancient forces have quietly coexisted with her reality, just out of sight. It's a world governed by secrets, where the extraordinary is concealed by the normal. When Selene's life unexpectedly takes a turn, she is drawn to Eldermyst Academy, an ancient, secluded institution that holds the key to her true potential. The academy is a place far removed from her small-town life, a place where the supernatural is a part of everyday existence. Here, Selene begins to uncover her own latent powers, powers that have been dormant for years. The stark contrast between her once predictable world and the strange, mystical realm she enters becomes the foundation for her transformation. As she explores secret locations, encounters creatures beyond imagination, and navigates the complexities of magical realms, Selene begins to realize that her journey isn't just about surviving the chaos of two worlds colliding-it's about mastering the forces within herself, understanding the legacy that runs through her veins, and coming to terms with the power she holds. Each challenge she faces, each discovery she makes, takes her further away from the life she knew, and closer to a destiny that was always waiting for her.
