As the organization of Infinity and S.H.I.E.L.D unite together to bring order to a galaxy long oppressed by a ruling tyrant for centuries in the past, a lone variable antagonist, Syndrome, attempts to usurp the balance, with his unholy alliance he's formed. The oddly competent-incompetent mastermind has achieved a decade-long career of victories and fear mongering and has easily assured himself as the greatest threat to universal peace.

However, set near the end of it all, as Syndrome's empire declines, and as he hides in the shadows, revelations about the future of the universe reveal themselves, and the journey ahead is sure to break those who face and endure it.
