William began to growl. His slow bounding words gave a rhythm to Amber's heart. Had she pushed the leopard too far? She didn't reply. She just looked sternly at him in his acrobatic position. He continued calmly.
"I've wanted to see you wet."
Before she could react, the sprinklers went off. She stood up fast. The cold water fell plentifully on her head. Her chest emptied it's wind and she could hardly breathe.
"How did you?..."
A shocked expression helped convey her peril. He just sat there, a predatory look in his eyes. She stumbled back. If he somehow got it to rain down, what else could he do? She turned and ran for the door.
She pushed the white button. Nothing! She pushed it again and again, assaulting the white plastic. Nothing!
