Every once in a while, the Elements choose a human who would have a prophecy set around them or their bright future set ahead of them. They were royalty to the animals, spirits and so on. Very few humans knew about this. 

It had been a while since they had chosen a human or anyone at that. They then heard about Harry Potter. The poor boy had a prophecy about him defeating the Dark Lord. Obviously, they chose Harry. 

Harry was in for a long and adventureous life ahead of him.
