Many men believe that a woman at sea brings about a curse on a ship. Those men have never had the pleasure of crossing paths with Ada Kell. Captain of a ship left to her by her notorious father, she has made a name for herself in the waters as a brutal and selfish pirate queen.

Kamira has been lost for five years. Stolen away from her family as a bargaining chip to keep them under control, she has been abused, sold and torn apart piece by piece. Afraid of what and who she truly is, she has remained hidden for as long as she can. However, when her brother dies and the mark of her family is inked onto her skin, she knows that hiding is no longer an option. She has to get home, she has to rescue her family and her people from extinction.

In times of hardship for lands as far as Ada's ship can travel and an intercontinental war on the cusp of erupting, Ada agrees to transport some cargo for a local merchant for a few extra coin. What she doesn't anticipate is the stowaway she finds. One that claims herself as the heir of a very powerful country and court. One that hasn't been heard of for centuries, but could turn the tides of this war entirely.

Ada agrees, against her crew, to take the girl back to her home - for the right price. With the promise of enough coin and power over the sea to last her until her dying breath, Ada promises to take the girl across the ocean. However she's not the only traveller after the girl and the reward she promises. With attacks, mutiny and monsters coming for Ada and her crew, it's not long before they're in more danger than Ada ever accounted for.

Told between alternating points of view, this is the story of the Pirate Queen and the lost Shadow Princess and their voyage across the sea.
