Lucius Rabirius of District Two has trained since early childhood to become a Career Tribute, and now he is eighteen, determined to volunteer and win the Hunger Games this year. Bloodshed and violence are all he knows, and the last shreds of humanity deep within him do next to nothing to influence his decisions. But a turn of events forces him to reevaluate his priorities. Will he discard the final remnants of his dwindling sanity, or will he instead hold onto those fading strands of decency? And will victory be in his hands... or will he be just another runner-up, lost forever?
