She was planning to die, but along came a change. Katrina Hendrix is your average pessimist searching for a fulfilling life as a young, queer woman living with an abusive mother and no father. Upon her mother's need to return to rehab for her alcoholism, Kat moves with her paternal grandparents. She, a seventeen-turning-eighteen year old girl, is intrigued by Maia Clifford, a girl she mysteriously meets and eventually develops a serious relationship with. Just when their relationship deepens and all is well, Kat is overwhelmed with the resurfacing of her family's past involvement with something deeper than she could have imagined. Her father's death was labeled a suicide, but when strange things happen upon her return to her father's hometown, Kat wonders if something else was going on behind her back. Uncovering the mystery behind her father's death whilst battling the struggle to identify her place in Maia's life is difficult, so can she do it? Read the novel to find out.
