I prefer being alone. Thats what Sophia says to the other people that are not one of few she keeps close. She is guarded. Cautious. And needs saving. Her mom hates her. Her dad is NEVER home. She has a short temper and a strong willed attitude. She is fiercely protective of her "family". Associating with her is like playing with fire. It could be really cool, or could end VERY badly. What happens when the new boy takes an interest in her? What happens when he won't leave her they way she likes to be… alone? What happens when her mom pushes her just a little bit too far?

Complete! "You know I really like you, right?" He was definitely drunk. "You do?" I asked. My voice was supposed to be teasing, but I think it came off as a bit startled. He laughed, "Yeah, why else would I trust you with all my secrets?" -- Betty was many things; a romantic, a fashion designer, a bit more jealous than the average girl, great with a camera, a helpful daughter and a good friend. But she was best known for being nice. And usually, the boy did not want the 'nice' girl. But this summer she was going to prove to Mike, her crush since FOREVER, that nice was enough. She was going to have an amazing summer, a perfect Junior year, and finally have her first kiss. It was a foolproof plan. Moving from her childhood home in Arizona to New Mexico at the start of Junior year was never a part of Betty's plan. But sometimes when parents are involved, plans change. So now the nice girl had to start over at a new school in a new State. And when the (maybe not so bad) bad boy, Eli, gets involved, it might be hard to be known as 'the nice girl'.
