Buried Emeralds

Adelaide Miller loved her job. Even though there were tiring days and extra long nights, she didn't mind it. Being a detective wasn't easy but her clown of a partner, who was also her best friend, made it entertaining. To put it simply, her life was normal.

However, that is all changed by a ghost encounter, a 14 year old boy, a peculiar crime scene and an emerald studded bracelet. In no particular order.

Centuries ago, there existed four clans - The Emerald Clan, The Ruby Clan, The Sapphire Clan and The Topaz Clan. There was once a time when they all co-existed in harmony but soon came a time when there wasn't a single ounce of peace between the Clans. Nobody knows the reason for their rivalry, but the clans viciously fought each other in a centuries old war.

But despite all the conflicts between the Clans, The Guardians of each Clan were not enemies in any way. The Guardians were old, wise creatures who knew that the war would not bring any good to the clans and decided to go into hiding to prevent the war from turning magical. Nevertheless, The Emerald Clan found the spellbooks that the guardians had hidden and taught themselves magic using it.

The Clans lived in a naturally symbiotic relationship with nature, following the simple rule of give-and-take. The Emerald Clan was arguably the closest to nature, but like the saying goes - All good things must come to an end.

In this case, it was the virtues of the Emerald Clan. The leaders of this clan soon began to exploit their relationship with nature and started practising magic that defied nature's laws. Or at least, they tried to. Though the other clans had their disagreements, they all agreed on one thing - preserving nature's sacred balance.
