For as long as he can remember, Nickodemus has been in a world where the threat of monsters lays around every corner, gold and gems have the chance of spewing from the most unlikely places, and the people are about as sane as a toad. But what do you expect when you're a prisoner in a video game? With only his trusty bow and explosive-know-how to rely on, everyday is a struggle for survival... not to mention a struggle to not go knockers.
So imagine his pleasure when the game finally decides to place him as a head general for the dark forces. Now free to destroy as much as he wants and cause as much mayhem possible, Nick finally has a place in a world he was never meant for. So long as he can complete the simple task of killing the protagonist, Rena, which he figures is no big deal. She already wants him dead, anyways.

How wrong he was.

When Rena unexpectedly saves his life, they soon befriend one another, meeting in secret at the brink of night. it isn't long before an impossible friendship becomes something more. But as the game progresses, their occasional clashes become more common, and the game's influence gets stronger and stronger on Nick with each arrow, driving him to grow more ruthless than ever before...
Soon, the game is no longer a game, but a constant struggle to keep a hold on who both players really are... and not destroy each other in the process.
For if either of them die, their gone forever.
