#20 in Vignette (November 2020)

Racism affects everyone differently, but the color of our skins don't define who we are. A vignette to show my struggle, and many others.

Audre is a highschool girl who is just like everyone else. She gets good grades, has a loving African family, and has a nice home to sleep in every night. Life in America continues to get harder for Audre as the people in her school constantly bully her for the skin she has no control over. Being black was never a problem for her until highschool. She used to see a beauty in her skin, a beauty that not many people will learn to see. Every little detail of herself makes her dislike herself more and more everyday. The little comments from her peers every single say cause her to see herself differently. She lost her beauty.. Will she be able to find it again?
