Lara Schmidt found out that there is, in fact, life after death.
And it sucks.
Never mind the fact that no one can see or hear her. Her main problem was that she was just stuck there, unable to move on to heaven or hell or wherever it was she was supposed to go. Being a ghost- or 'shade', as she preferred to call herself- was lonely and boring.
That is until one day, her friend Scott McCall can finally see her.
