"You just don't see it," Dalia murmured, her narrowed eyes trained on his form. She watched him discreetly, careful not to miss the slightest slip. She watched him smile politely and talk animately. To any onlooker, he seemed to be engaged and interested in his conversation.
To her, he was rather bored and wanted to retire from it. Dalia only needed to observe him for a few moments to discern that his every act is deliberate and chosen carefully. His every laugh was timed and calculated with the utmost precision. And his every smile came with enough strings attached to stage an entire puppet show.
And they were all his puppets, blissfully dancing to the devil's tune.

Dalia Riva had barely managed to survive her seventh night of discipline with the Carrows. But just when she finally fell into the bliss of unconsciousness, she was violently awoken by black water surging through her lungs. Things from there took an utterly odd turn.
