A Gender-neutral fanfiction. Set in Detroit.
"Goddamn it, Gavin," I murmured, setting my coffee cup down, readjusting my position to a more professional stance.- Well, as professional as one could get in a swivel chair. "Lay off!" I spoke, the android and human pausing in their one-sided bickering as I stood up. "He's not a toy! Toys are replaceable, but.." I stopped, eyes flickering to the right in slight embarrassment as I reached forward, lightly grasping the Android's wrist; tugging him toward me and away from Gavin. "But.. Connor's not."

A little Connor x Reader I'll work on from time to time. Everyone needs it, right?

Graduating, moving out, buying a house in an older section of Detroit, Y/N had planned out a large portion of their life, a huge chunk of it to be spent what they had dreamt of doing when younger.- Being a detective. Becoming an officer would've been fine, but wheres the fun in that.
For the last three years, they've worked hard(as hard as one could work on reports with around four hours of sleep and an energy drink addiction), even managing to get on their long-term Homicide-partner's good side- It fades in and out with their ridiculous antics. However, when working late-night at home, they receive a few knocks on their door. Getting up, they sleepily answer the door.- Only to be met by none other than an android of a peculiar model, monotonously asking where their partner is at this time of night.
F/N L/N was a detective for the Detroit Police Department. Her father was on the force and she decided to join the force shortly before his death 2 years ago now. She was born in 2012, and witnessed the first machine to pass the Turing Test. She'd spent over half of her life with androids around, she was used to them, she accepted them as a part of society. After the passing of her father, Hank presumed the role of her father figure, upholding his promise to the man he'd known for so long. They were partners and worked together on many cases. What happens when a spanner, in the form of the RK800 android Connor, is thrown into their lives to help solve the deviancy cases? After all, they all bleed blue right?
TW for depression and suicide in this story. It's more prominent/spoken about from Chapter 5 onwards!
