Zerena comes from a powerful bloodline of wolves, her and her family are seen as royalty. That is until her mother, brother, and herself are forced to run from their homeland. They settle on a new land occupied by wolves and witches, and they fit right in. They live in fear everyday but the Mikaelson family helps ease their fear slowly but surely.

After tragedy strikes both family's the young children of each family are turned into something different. On the fateful night that the originals were created Zerena made a promise to stick by Niklaus' side no matter what and that is what she does. For centuries Zerena and Niklaus have worked together as one and done unspeakable things without a care of who they hurt. The two of them feel completely broken and alone, they feel like they only have each other. They aren't villains, they're just broken.
