Caught in a loop

This is a story based off of a dream that I had.

It's between a merman and a kind yet unfortunate army women at a training base. Many of the other trainees at the training base just didn't like her because she kept taking favor with the base captain meaning she'd probably get a higher position when they were done with their training so they kept trying too get rid of her but she somehow always made it back alive which was because of a merman that swam around the island they were on, he'd keep finding her in or by the water looking completely beaten up. As this kept happening they slowly started too grow feelings for each other.

It's also filled with romance and betrayal but the story may seem slow going.
