It's been years since the death of the red ninja and ninjas has been able to morn and rest easily. with no villains to fight the ninja have been trying to find other ways to entertain themselves. unlike the death of zane the ninja knew that they had to stick together, kai would have wanted then to keep fighting for ninjago. that's what they intend on doing, but the peace in ninjago was soon interrupted by an old foe comming back for revenge on a certain ninja. unknown to the ninja hes not the only one who has return.

meanwhile pythor has kai in an underground base along with a few other villains who are waiting for there time. while one is set to detract the ninja and to get a spark of determination for a even bigger plan to unfold. this is faze two of the villains uprising.
