Caity is a young nurse who is about to graduate from college. During her last weeks as a student she meets a patient her age who has her quickly wrapped around his finger.
They befriend each other and stay in contact after he is discharged, to dismay of his wife. 
As his marriage becomes rocky, all Austin wants is to spend time with the girl who has been there for him in the past weeks, and their friendship grows and eventually becomes more than that. But his unsteady past and doubtful behavior takes a toll on them and their short relationship, leading to an end that neither of them had ever foreseen.
