James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes was always the sidekick to someone else's story, that someone else being his best friend, and secret lover, Captain America. However, getting drafted to fight in World War II on behalf of the United States of America in 1939 would ultimately become the catalyst for change that not even Steve saw coming. After a freak accident in 1945, Bucky is forced into an all-new unimaginably-torturous reality with no memory of who he once was for the majority of seventy years. He must learn to adapt to the strict day-to-day rules put in place by his kidnappers at HYDRA, Hitler's Nazi Deep-Science division led by Johann Schmidt, all while remaining secluded from the rest of the world at a facility in Siberia and completing kill orders on the worlds' most dangerous criminals and most well-known celebrities at HYDRA's every edict. They call him The Winter Soldier, those of them that live to tell the tale, but the ones that are closest to him know he's a ghost: invisible, untraceable, unkillable.
And, so, yes. This is, indeed, a ghost story.
