Was I ready for this?
No. Not at all.
My heart was literally about to explode. A weight had settled in my stomach as we raced through the forest. My vision began to blur a little, from the stress, and the pain, and the weight of the world crashing down on me.
The only thing that kept me feeling okay was the fact that he was beside me, the feeling of his warm hand brushing against mine as we ran, the sound of his rhythmic and heavy breathes.
He was the only thing that kept me going.
