Vincent is a nightstalker, a vampire type creature who has been passed down in the family to the Dukes to protect the family and current Duke. Vincent has never questioned why he stays there, friendless, without a family, no kindness shown toward him. 
 Quinton, always neglected, is the youngest son of the Clitherow family, his father a Duke of England. Also, the same household Vincent watches over.
