I have always been fascinated by the clash of cultures which occurred after the end of the second world war. The UK was almost bankrupt, eclipsed by the US's aggressive commercial, industrial, and political might as they cherry picked British assets to pay for its war debts.  The British Establishment in disarray and confusion, threatened by the change of mood in the country a new non-Conservative Government.
I have tried to bring together brings together all these elements in, what I hope, is an entertaining short story.  I WOULD VALUE READERS CONTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK !All Rights Reserved

You think Julia had it rough? Pfft. Her life was a fucking cake walk compared to mine- but lets not get ahead of the story. Julia might be the queen that brought down the nations, but I was the one that made them beg for mercy while burned them all to the ground. Important information: You can read this story without reading the Locatlie series, but it will spoil the Locatlie series for you. It was a normal nation meeting. They held one annually at least 3 times a year. However, this meeting ended up turning the world on their heads. Their parents, the ancients, who have long since passed on cannot stand to watch their children suffer. With this a plan is formed to help, even if only just a little. A messenger from the ancients arrive with a book and wishes of happiness for the nations. They're stuck with no way out, in a space where time is separated from reality. They only have one way to leave, and that is to read. Through this book the true personality of the nations shine through. There are others who just won't get that chance,they simply lives regretting or sometimes cursing life for never giving them a second chance. When the lucky few gets the second chance they feel a rush of something, name it relief,happiness or even adrenaline, but that rush will be the essence that helps them to live their second chance to the fullest. But what if the second chance you get is a half life that you never wished for. What if it is burdened with so many baggages that you curse life for giving you that second chance. What if that same second chance that every one wishes for is nothing but a pain for you. Will you still want it? Or will you take that half chance and show life that you can live?

This is a story containing the origin of an ambitious concept I have since continued. It's so simple I can explain it in one sentence. "A private detective working with a vigilante in Post-War Chicago try to solve crimes while evading a suspicious Police Captain." It doesn't shy away from the racism that is necessary, nor does it dive headlong into that to the fullest extent. This is a story about cops, crooks, and private investigators. It's not a political statement. There is no reflection on today's politics to be found, or to be made in any past or future installments of this. There are people who commit what we would consider mass shootings today in broad daylight, there are incidents of sexual harassment and casual racism because the year is 1948 when the story begins. I did not write this to offend or support anybody real or living past or present. So without further warding, this is the story of a private detective and a veteran of both world wars who are brought together to face a tragedy and unravel a larger world of violence and crooks in their own ways in 1948 Chicago.
