Anthro, Spirits and Humans share the same world. During the celebration of the world's 2000 years, there was the "Great Fireworks Incident" occurred at Amber City. 

15 years later, a spirit girl named Aoi who lives in Pollen Valley, is desperate to find a friend her age before she graduates from elementary school. By that time, she meets Rue, that will live nextdoor to her place. 

How long will their relationship last before "the day" comes

This dramatic story was inspired by the film The Cure (1995) and the concept of animals evolving was inspired by the idea of the next stage of human evolution explored in Marvel Comics' X-Men.
