If you're anything like me, you found the ending to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker more than unsatisfactory and utterly heartbreaking. While I love the franchise, I cannot help but think of the concluding film and be completely outraged by the ending, wishing Ben Solo never died, believing Rey and Ben deserved better. Even though George Lucas called it a space fairytale, I didn't need a "they lived happily ever after." I at least wanted "they lived." Therefore, on the one year anniversary of Episode IX's release, I present to you "And So They Lived: an Alternate Ending to The Rise of Skywalker."

Venture back into a galaxy far far away as the Resistance defeats the Final Order and Rey eliminates the sinsiter Emperor Palpatine once and for all. Alas, in her efforts, Rey breathes her last breath oncr victory is finally achieved. But not if the newly turned Ben Solo has anything to do with it. He has chased her across galaxies and crawled out of the pits of hell. There is nothing he wouldn't do for the woman he loves. Will Ben succeed in bringing Rey back to life? If by some chance they make it back to the Resistance base, will the former Supreme Leader be accepted? What lies beyond their wildest dreams for the dyad pair?

Luke Skywalker stands net to R2-D2 the sky around him burns shades of orange, yellow and red and behind him a Jedi temple burns. Kylo feels his father's hand upon his face the watched as his father falls into the abyss. "Your journey nears its end." A sinister voice now whispers, and a flash of blue light reveals a fleet of Imperial Star Destroyers filling the vastness of space as blue fire leaps between them. A powerful red laser of an unseen weapon obliterates the surface of a planet. Shrieks, whispers and screams and then the sound of a lightsaber igniting. A fiery red saber but behind that saber is Rey, her hand twitches and the saber becomes a double-pronged staff. A maniacal evil laugh cackles. Kylo woke with a start and sat upright on his bed. Written after the first trailer dropped and finished before the film was released. Contains references to previous films, novelisations and comics. I figured that if If I wanted to rewrite TLJ and TROS the only correct way would be by also doing TFA so here is that. Also, this book is going to be very similar to the movie to a point where it is almost identical but since it's written with different points of views we get to know more about the characters and where they come from. It is very canon compliant especially when talking about the different character backstories. That being said, this doesn't mean that the next two books are going to be the exact same as the movies I want to take the other books in a completely different way. They might still have similarities to the movies but not that many. ------ **I do not own any of the characters in the Star Wars Saga all credits to that go to Lucas Films.**
