Clove, the female district two tribute. She kicks the bucket near the end of the games, but she doesn't leave. She stays with her partner, Cato in the form of a ghost. When he dies, she goes to a mysterious place for dead tributes. For some reason, he's not there. Then one night, she has a strange dream. She awakes to Cato's older brother pounding on the door, and saying he's had similar dreams. Nat and Clove look deeper, and uncover something sinister in paradise. Or is it all an illusion in the first place? Did the games even happen? Do they even exist?

It's his 45th birthday tomorrow and he must be home to keep his promise to his mother. His family had never forsaken him, he did. He'd been ignoring their summons since he turned his back from them. Perhaps it's time to grant their plea. He closes his office and walks to the elevator. "Good evening, Artemis." The man in a black jacket greets him. Artemis smiles at the stranger. "Do I know you?" The stranger puts his arm around the stunned lawyer. Behind the unknown man's dark glasses are bloodshot eyes ready to scare the wits out of his prey. "Your mother does. She's expecting me to greet you happy birthday." Removing his dark glasses, he stares at his victim to corrupt his eyes. Insurmountable fear assaults Artemis as excruciating pain drills on his eyeballs. A horrible scream slits through the silence of the night when the clock strikes twelve. As the elevator opens, the stranger loosens his grip and the victim falls on the floor. Covering his bleeding eyes, Artemis winces from severe pain. The man whistles away as he walks past the dead body of the security guard in the lobby to the snowy road outside the building. His victim crawls out of the closing elevator. The curse is true. Suzie is just a normal girl from district 2 whos family has died because of the cruel Capitol, and all she wants is to do is be with them again. She figures the best way to finally be with her family again is to volunteer for the hunger games. Then someone else could kill her and she wouldn't have to kill herself. Also her father was in the games and she wanted to make him proud. So she comes up with a plan to go around all the districts gathering different types of skills and once she gets back to district 2 she will volunteer. Making her father proud was the thing she loved to do the most. Her father was her idol. But she doesnt have to volunteer. Suzie Timmer thought she would never get chosen at the reaping because she is not apart of any of the districts except district 2. But the Capitol figures out her plan, they figure out what she has been doing, so they purposly pull her name out at the reaping in district 4...
