Asphodel Williams has died, and this is just the beginning.

From time immemorial, spirits and ghosts have been chosen to guard the barrier between the living and the dead. It is an honor, and a pact made for the good of all creatures on Earth. Out of all the spirits passing on in the world, Asphodel was chosen for this task. Now caught between two worlds in between life and decay, she must learn her new responsibilities as a Graveheart - to keep the barrier alive and the vengeful hordes of the dead away from the realm of the living.

She doesn't have to do this alone, however. A mysterious boy named Isaac Tallow is there to help her. He is dark, silent and well acquainted with the task at hand. He and Asphodel will be partners through thick and thin, watching each other's backs and battling off wraiths and necromancers alike. He alone bears the Voidmark, a sealing rune between the two worlds, but can he be trusted?

As whispers spread of amassing legions of dead following a returning wraith war general named Hakon Silvertongue who intends to break into the living world, Asphodel must rely on all her wits, courage and newfound magic to hold back the end of herself, Isaac, the Gravehearts and the entire world order as she knows it.

Soon it becomes apparent why: Mason is a werewolf. But when a fight turns into a sudden kiss that neither expects, Kieran's feelings for Mason turn to attraction in an instant.
