In the brume of simplicity surrounding her, destiny played a cruel game, snatching the most prized possession she had--her parents. Left in an arrant, broken state, she was suffering all alone. Her heart was on stake. With different cracks gifted by her own trusted person, she was sure not to get emotionally attached with someone. Ethan Blythe had his future well planned. Enrolling in his dream art college and persuing his career to become a great artist was really going well. With his happiness on its peak and his self effulgent, he wasn't ready for the surprise that was waiting for him. Dilated cardiomyopathy. The heart disease, encompassing his whole bright future in gloaming feral. The free twenty-three year old boy who was agitated to dive in the pool of success was now confined in a cage-- a hospital. But destiny sure is a player. It plays with emotions, it plays with life. And, in their story it played with both. ••• • Winner of Best Title - Bitchin Awards • 1st Place for Best Writer - Banana Awards. • 1st Place for Best Character Description - Watt-a-mini Awards • 2nd Place - Love Story Awards. • 2nd Place for Best Aesthetics - Pisces Awards • 2nd Place for Best Blurb - The Eunoia Mini Awards • 2nd Place for Best Cover - Banana Awards • 2nd Place for Best Blurb - Books and Beyond Awards. • 3rd Place - The Marine World Awards. • 3rd Place for Best Title - The Eunoia Mini Awards • 3rd Place for Best Book Presentation - Smoothie Awards. • 3rd Place for Best Description - Banana Awards. • Honorable Mention - Banana Awards • Honorable Mention for Best Title - Brooklyn Awards • Honorable Mention for Best Title - The Eunoia Awards

"I tried to figure it out." Oh no. "I really tried. But I couldn't." Damien sounded hurt. I felt like being buried under the ground right there and then but I couldn't so I had to brace myself and face him. "Maybe I shouldn't have gone to your house without calling first yesterday." He was getting closer. "But I don't think that's why you're avoiding me." He was slowly backing me up to the locker. The close proximity was blissful and scary at the same time. "I don't know what you're talking about, Damien." I tried to keep my voice steady but I knew I was failing miserably. "I'm sure you don't." Our noses were one inch from touching. "I don't know what's going on but I need you to understand something." He continued. I was almost positive he could hear how relentlessly my heart was pounding. "I am never letting you fight alone." His eyes held a fierce softness I had never seen. " I care too much about you." Our lips were only a breath from each other. "Your fight will always be my fight." Perfect smile, perfect clothes, perfect boyfriend, perfect life. All these things masked how messed up Adina Powers' life really was. She needed more. More love, life, and more realness. She needed a savior. She needed someone who had to get through his own hell. She needed Damien Munroe. ***WARNING! Occasional mention of suicide.
