Will Herondale, driven mad with longing for Tessa Gray, cannot endure his feelings for her without running the risk of putting her in danger. He finds a temporary solution: a hatred potion, one that causes him to absolutely loathe Tessa.
The members of the Institute quickly dwindle down to Will and Tessa. When Mortmain places an imprisoning curse on the Institute, the two find themselves trapped with only each other for company.
