Shuichi Saihara, a criminology major in college, is suddenly set into a mystery revolving around his favorite book series. 'A Chain of Cases' by an author named, 'Pam'. It's a book that he's been interested in since the start of his freshman year. Recently, now in his sophomore year, Shuichi realizes that the first book is one of three others. This threw him into an immediate reading spree. The series caught his eye, and this didn't go unknown to a certain someone.
Now, moving towards the middle of his semester, random sticky notes begin to appear in the collection of books. One leads him to another, and another, until he's searching for multiple within the series. From sticky notes to index cards, to full-written letters, Shuichi and this unknown person become pen-pals. Well, pen-pals would be an understatement since the young man begins to find a deeper passion for the person behind the letters, but they're unknown. With the help of his dedication, Shuichi pushes past obstacles and a new love interest to find out his secret admirer.
The answer...is quite shocking-
