On complete accident, Chris Cerulli became a father at the tender age of 20 with his girlfriend at the time, Carlie. He named his daughter Riley, and Riley became the most important thing in Chris' life. Three and a half years later, Chris decides that he and Riley would be better off without Carlie and he pushes Carlie out of their lives.
Chris and Riley are actually doing very well on their own. Chris is a good father, and Riley is a happy little girl for the most part. She's still internally hurt from a lot of the pain that Carlie caused, but she trusts Chris to protect her. And Chris DOES protect her. He's very good at protecting her...
Until her fourth birthday.
Chris walked out of the room for one minute; and when he came back, Riley was gone.
After almost eleven years missing, Riley finds a way to return to Pennsylvania after having been tortured day in and day out by the person that kidnapped her. She returns to Chris, bloody and bruised; and all she wants from him is help.
Now, Riley and Chris have to adjust to the fact that Riley is back and has endured a lot of pain during her time in captivity. Riley now has to get to know her dad all over again, his girlfriend and his band. She also has to get to know herself and conquer many internal struggles along the way. Will Riley Cerulli be able to rise above all of the challenges she's about to face? Or will she collapse under the weight of the past?

When Sadie was born, Chris was the first one to hold her after Melanie and John. So having Chris around more often is wonderful for Sadie; mostly because Chris is very understanding of her and incredibly open-minded. Sadie is just a bit...different, and Chris is the perfect example for her to show that being different is an okay and good thing. When tragedy strikes, Chris is immediately there for Melanie and Sadie and instantly knows how to comfort them. With being so close to Melanie this often now, Chris begins to realize that maybe, after all these years, he might have been looking at her the wrong way, and feelings may be starting to develop.
