On complete accident, Chris Cerulli became a father at the tender age of 20 with his girlfriend at the time, Carlie. He named his daughter Riley, and Riley became the most important thing in Chris' life. Three and a half years later, Chris decides that he and Riley would be better off without Carlie and he pushes Carlie out of their lives.
Chris and Riley are actually doing very well on their own. Chris is a good father, and Riley is a happy little girl for the most part. She's still internally hurt from a lot of the pain that Carlie caused, but she trusts Chris to protect her. And Chris DOES protect her. He's very good at protecting her...
Until her fourth birthday.
Chris walked out of the room for one minute; and when he came back, Riley was gone.
After almost eleven years missing, Riley finds a way to return to Pennsylvania after having been tortured day in and day out by the person that kidnapped her. She returns to Chris, bloody and bruised; and all she wants from him is help.
Now, Riley and Chris have to adjust to the fact that Riley is back and has endured a lot of pain during her time in captivity. Riley now has to get to know her dad all over again, his girlfriend and his band. She also has to get to know herself and conquer many internal struggles along the way. Will Riley Cerulli be able to rise above all of the challenges she's about to face? Or will she collapse under the weight of the past?

McKayla begins to wonder if running away from her problems is the best solution, even if it means leaving the one she loves behind. With each letter received, the band - and Chris in particular - grow to admire Eve for her willingness to step out beyond her father's teachings and show some humanity. After years of receiving her letters but never seeing her in person, Chris finally meets her by chance one day. A small, timid, conservatively dressed woman, living a lie to please her father. Chris had heard rumors of Paul Lawrence's life, one of them being that he beat his daughter, but Chris wasn't sure if that was true upon meeting Eve. Chris Cerulli met Naomi Shannon in 2012 on Motionless in White's American Infamous Tour. She was, at the time, doing merch for Stick to Your Guns, and the two of them hit it off immediately. Caroline was blind. Only a small percentage of those legally considered blind are COMPLETELY blind, but Caroline fell into that category. Chris Cerulli's best female friend has been Melanie Dawson since they were in childhood. They never ever saw themselves as anything more than that. They had an absolutely wonderful friendship together though. After being friends for over twenty-five years, they'd been through pretty much everything together. Chris was even up front with the bridesmaids when Melanie got married. Melanie is a pathologist (a doctor that performs autopsies on dead bodies) and is often busy with her work. After nearly ten years of marriage, Melanie finds herself divorced from John, and on her own with Sadie. So, whenever he is home from tour, one of Chris' top priorities is to help out Melanie around the house, with her dog, and with Sadie. Sadie and Chris are incredibly close. When Sadie was born, Chris was the first one to hold her after Melanie and John. So having Chris around more often is wonderful for Sadie; mostly because Chris is very understanding of her and incredibly open-minded. Sadie is just a bit...different, and Chris is the perfect example for her to show that being different is an okay and good thing. When tragedy strikes, Chris is immediately there for Melanie and Sadie and instantly knows how to comfort them. With being so close to Melanie this often now, Chris begins to realize that maybe, after all these years, he might have been looking at her the wrong way, and feelings may be starting to develop.
