Maxine Scott is just a freshman in college. When she got to her dorm, hoping to see her roommate for the first time, she was slightly disappointed to see she wasn't there. Maxine meets her online friends for the first time as they invite her out to a Sorority party to kick off the new year. There, she sees a woman named Marthe Woertman. Maxine doesn't understand why she felt so drawn to this woman. She never had a boyfriend because it didn't feel right, but she was raised, taught that loving another woman is a sin.
