K'nira is an alien from the far away planet Ezol and her job is an explorer: she travels to other planets, observes their wildlife, then writes a book recording her findings. One day, her agent comes up to her with the next planet she's going to go to. Earth. This one is special: its entire population is made up of animals. There is a species that's supreme though; primate creatures called humans. Why aren't they classified as people? Humans think they're alone in the universe. As far as they're concerned, no other planets contain life. She and the cameraman travel to Earth to study the planet. The residents of a small town in the US are surprised when an eccentric woman appears out of nowhere one summer. Not only does she speak a language no one's heard, but she sometimes follows random people around with a man holding what looks like a high-tech camera, harassing the entire town. There's a girl named Eira lost in the dreamlike nebula that's the Soul Sea, a graveyard of galaxies where the souls of creatures from universes beyond our own drift after death. While the other souls gladly merge with the whirling stardust, she holds on to a spark of self perception. She has memories of a life spent, of an eternally twilight-world planet, but can't hold onto the whole. Motivated by a undefined desire for something she can't exactly articulate, she resists the Soul Sea's currents, frantically attempting to rebuild her shattered memories and break free from the passive death of the dead, lest she's lost in oblivion. Her efforts catch the interest of an unusual being, a being of pure gravitation energy, who's drawn to her odd spark. This being, as old as the universe itself, recognizes in her a mirror of its own timeless isolation and presents an opportunity, not to be reborn, but to move beyond it, to be something greater than a forgotten memory in the ocean of space. for short, to be immortal. Zynthar, a powerful, god-like creature sees her and gives her a way to escape death.
