Xena and Gabrielle adjust to life in this new Millenium, but they know they can't just go around Sedona trying to help the citizens like they did back in Ancient times. While picking Gabrielle up from campus, they come to the rescue of a female collage freshman who is being harrased by the guy who tried to rape Gabrielle (Abigail) the previous semester. The young woman and a group of other collage women that are being harassed by a group of jocks, known as The Alpha Twelve, ask Xena and Gabrielle to teach them how to protect themselves. It's not Acient Rome, but Xena and Gabrielle train this ragtag group how to fight Amazon style while teaming up with the group of woman, local law inforcement and going undercover to stop the Alpha Twelve's reign of sexual harassment. Later on in the series, this group of women will band together and become the Amazons of the 21st century!

After falling deathly ill, given her rite of caste and queenhood to Xena and later being miraculously resurrected and heald by the mixture Xena had given her, Gabrielle insists that dispite Xena's objections, Xena should still remain queen. Not liking the idea, Xena tells her that the title rightfully belongs to Gabrielle. After learning of the option for them both to rule as queen's together, Xena gives in and agrees to the compromise. However the requirements for two women becoming co-queens of the Amazons turns out to involve much more than what Gabrielle was expecting. As Xena notices that their current challenges is far from the only thing that's weighing on Gabrielle's mind.

Which is a decision that Gabrielle soon comes to question when strange occurrences begin to happen which causes suspicions from the residents of secret village towards their visitors. And soon leads to more serious problems between the two groups. As all the while Xena secretly deals with her own issue in the form of something that she can't explain.

Despite Xena and Gabrielle's efforts to stop Ares and shut down the Phoenix of the Ancient Gods, Ares beloved fallen sister, Athena, Goddess of Warfare and Wisdom has risen. Ares fills her in on what has been happening since she's been gone a couple millennials. He also tells Athena about how Xena and Gabrielle are reborn again as their decendants. Athena and Ares decide to slowly let Xena and Gabrielle know that she is back. Meanwhile sides are taken as Gabrielle's family fight over what was revealed on tv and the Amazons come face to face with Xena and Gabrielle, pledging their allegence to them. At the hospital, Police Chief Cortez life hangs in the balance as not only part of her liver is damaged from the arrow that entered her abdomen, but she needs a blood transfusion also. Feeling awful about what had happened, Kira steps up and decides to be the donor, despite Xena's concern for her. And after Lester sustains a hit to the shoulder and went into shock, he wakes up a little different, shocking Gabrielle and Xena. The media starts to hound Xena and Gabrielle for interviews, Aphrodite figures things out and confronts Athena, a battle happens, and Ares opens up a massive can of worms at the end!!

Cortez asks Xena and Gabrielle's help when a prized Aztec artifact, known as Fénix de los dioses antiguos, or Phoenix of the Ancient Gods, is stolen from the local museum. Legend has it that this artifact can resurrect certaint Gods from the past and when looking at the footage, Xena and Gabrielle knows exactly who did it!! With Detectives McBain and Shaw, they go undercover to find Ares before he resurrects the Olympian Gods and Goddesses to reclaim the world as theirs again, but in doing so, Ares reveals Xena and Gabrielle's. true identity to the known world, shocking those close to them who didn't know the truth.
