Elijah Peters doesn't like coffee. Arizona Phillips drinks it by the bucketful. This is where their story begins.
You see, if Arizona hadn't stopped at Starbucks on the way to the train station, then she would have found out earlier that there were no trains running for the next few days. Maybe she would have been able to get a space on one of the connecting buses. Maybe she wouldn't be stranded at the train station with a 2000 mile journey ahead of her.
Elijah hates coffee, so maybe that's why he got to the station on time. But Elijah is always ready for an adventure, so when he sees Arizona, he decides to propose an idea, one which will help the two of them. But the two have a past and when you mix that with a cross-country adventure, you're sure to find complications. And even Arizona herself will admit that agreeing to Elijah's suggestion wasn't one of her better ideas.
