AU. Cloud Strife's life has become defined by tragedies, failures, and missed opportunities that drifted through his fingers and floated away with the carry of the wind. Now, following the tragic and unexpected deaths of his best friends, Cloud finds himself suddenly raising their child, failing at even that and finding himself reeling from the inadequacy and anger that has been living within him for the last decade. And it all started when he was ripped away from the girl he had fallen hopelessly in love with, a long, long time ago, listening to her pour her love out for him against the keys of a piano.

Circumstance has given them the opportunity to reunite, but Cloud isn't sure he can lower the bleak borders around his heart to let her back in.

She was supposed to teach his son how to play the piano. Instead, she taught him how to love again.
