While learning the ropes of this new world, and trying to find their mother, Zoey meets Alec, a Shadowhunter who, like her, likes sticking to the rules, and not liking to get into trouble, like his adoptive brother Jace. The two also meet the High Warlock of Brooklyn, and they find themselves learning to work their way through their new relations with one another.
